I wish you could smell the deliciousness of this sensory play through your phones! Children will love playing imaginatively with this easy recipe. Cloud dough is a wonderful alternative to sand, it’s a soft and silky dough that forms together to make shapes. The great thing about it is that is can be customized to suit different themes or seasons, it’s made with two kitchen staples which most people have lying around in their kitchen cupboard. Children will enjoy experimenting with the texture and exploring the smell of this recipe, add in some Christmas cookie cutters to enjoy making Christmas shapes!

This recipe is taste-safe so even the littlest hands can explore the rich texture without worrying if a small amount gets ingested, however it’s not safe for consumption.

Imagine this: you’re cooking dinner and need something from the drawer, you open it to find it’s full to the brim with clutter and you cannot find what you are looking for. Frustrating right? This is how small children feel when they have toy boxes with dozens of toys dumped inside them. It’s overwhelming, it’s over stimulating, they cannot concentrate or focus on what they are doing if too much is on offer.

When buying new toys we need to remember toys are more than just something that looks fun and cool, toys are the tools which aid a child’s development and they are crucial for learning new skills, understanding how the world works and building new brain connections.

Toys shouldn’t be something we buy on a whim for it to then never be played and shoved in a box taking up space. Let’s start prioritising quality toys to help children get the most out of play.

Hidden sounds STEM experiment 🍎

A fun phonics activity using magnetic tiles and felt tip pens! We enjoyed searching for each letter and saying each sound as we crossed them off the printable sheet. Mabel is very confident with each sound however she is currently getting letters mixed up when writing (for example writing p instead of q or b instead of d) so we revisit simple sound activities again and again.

Red and blue pens work the best but it would be fun to experiment with other colours too. You could even experiment with creating hidden pictures, draw a picture with red pen and scribble over with blue, experiment with which tile will reveal the hidden picture! 🎉

You’ll need:
🚦 magnetic tiles
🚦 felt tip pens (we used whiteboard pens but I’m sure any pen would work!)
🚦 white paper
🚦 our letters poster available on our website

Sunlight is made of many colours - all the colours of the rainbow, they blend to form a white light. Clear (white) lets all colours of light pass through and coloured acts as a filter, letting some colours through but blocking others
